Adam Kendon's latest publication is "Gesture in Naples and Gesture in Classical Antiquity" (Indiana University Press 2000), an annotated translation of Andrea de Jorio's "La mimica degli antichi investigata nel gestire napoletano" (Napoli, 1832). He has published many papers on gesture and its uses and also a book on Australian Aboriginal sign languages. His most recent "state of the art" publication was "Gesture" in Annual Review of Anthropology, Volume 26, 1997. See for example his Agenda for Gesture Studies" . He is associated with the Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania, Philadlephia and with the Istituto Universitario Orientale in Naples. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation (Washington, D.C.), the Wenner Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research (New York) and the Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici (Naples).
